Making the Most out of your Conference Experience

posted on

Attending TAM's Annual Conference & Expo? Make the most of your experience by using these tips:

Have a collection of business cards, friendly faces and other contacts? Put them into an excel sheet upon your return to the office. Add a ‘notes’ column to add notes from your conversations; it will make it easier to follow-up.

Following-up with contacts is best done in the first days after the conference concludes. Using your list of contacts and relevant information. Send emails or LinkedIn messages and make yourself memorable by including a specific conversations from your ‘notes’ column. Whether its for a casual introduction, information sharing, or a presentation/demo request, following-up with attendees strengthens your network

Review Your Notes:

Download session powerpoints (available within two weeks at TAMInc.org), search the conference hashtag (#TAMexpo) for any memorable quotes or notes that people have posted, and email your network with ideas or for clarification.

Host a Brown Bag:

Sharing the knowledge you gained from your attendance at a conference can be an invaluable opportunity for your staff and colleagues. Host a brown bag soon after you return. Make a list of notable sessions, conversations and topics and open a dialogue with the people you work with.

Provide Feedback:

Taking a conference survey helps the organizers develop best practices, determine topic interests for future trainings or webinars, and better prepare for next year. Look for an email survey link within one to two weeks after the conference concludes.
