The Transportation Association of Maryland (TAM) is a statewide organization committed to improving mobility for all of Maryland's citizens. TAM serves as a visible and effective advocate for transportation providers to funding and regulatory agencies as well as to the public. TAM provides training, education, professional development and a forum for exchange of ideas and networking in order to assist its members and the general public in the pursuit of excellence. Community transportation services provided by TAM members link people to community resources and promote business, tourism and economic development.
During FY 2008 TAM Members (excluding the Maryland Transit Administration) provided over 194 million passenger trips and operated over 380 million miles to connect people to jobs, medical services, nutrition programs, education facilities and recreation centers. In 2008 the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) provided over 101 million one-way passenger trips and operated over 759 million passenger miles to connect people to their communities and to critical services throughout the state.
TAM represents every jurisdiction in the state of Maryland and has a very diverse membership of over 80 organizations. Members include public, private, and non-profit organizations that provide community transportation services enabling citizens to lead independent and productive lives, providing access to community services, improving air quality and reducing traffic congestion. Members also include other businesses who provide services, such as vehicle and equipment suppliers, transportation consultants, insurance companies, cellullar phone companies, and many others.
