Every five years, the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) develops a 20-year vision for transportation in the state known as the Maryland Transportation Plan (MTP).The MTP outlines the State's transportation priorities and helps create a larger context for transportation decision-making.
The Plan is updated through extensive consultation and coordination with state, regional and local government stakeholders and outreach to Maryland's citizens. Between November 2017 and January 2018, a survey was conducted to gather input for the 2040 MTP. The feedback was used to draft the goals and objectives of the Plan.
The draft Goals & Objectives are available for review by following this link. Feedback should be provided to 2019MTP@mdot.state.md.us through February 28, 2017.
Once developed, the MTP guides the development of the Consolidated Transportation Program (CTP), which identifies specific road, bridge, transit, aviation, port, pedestrian, and bikeway projects that will be funded over the six-year capital program.
Complete details of the 2040 Maryland Transportation Plan are available by visiting the MDOT website.
