TAM Congratulates 2019 Roadeo Winners
Linthicum, MD- On Saturday, April 13nd, the Transportation Association of Maryland (TAM) hosted its 24th Annual Roadeo, a driving competition for the State’s transportation providers. Matt Paugh (2017 Roadeo Champion and 2017 TAM Driver of the Year) of Garrett Transit was awarded the top honor, winning a full scholarship to attend the CTAA National Roadeo in Palm Springs, CA on May 18-19. Gary Watson of Baltimore CountyRide and David Hall of Harford Transit LINK took second and third place respectively and are also eligible to compete at the national Roadeo.
The competition measured drivers’ skills in maneuvering vehicles among challenging driving obstacles. Each driver performed a pre-trip inspection of a vehicle and demonstrated proficiency in wheelchair securement and passenger assistance. “We are extremely happy to provide transit drivers an event that showcases their skills and look forward to supporting our drivers in Palm Springs and providing further training opportunities to Maryland transit operators”, stated Roadeo Chairman Suzanne Kalmbacher.
The event took place on Saturday morning, April 13th, at the Maryland Transit Administration’s Dorsey MARC Station in Elkridge, MD.
